Learn how to make authentic pork lau lau. This recipe will make 12 pork lau laus. I can eat about 3-4 of these.

So, I told myself that the next time I went to Hawaii, I would make pork lau lau. And, this past January, when I went back to Hawaii, I did just that. Yes, I got my cousin to make pork lau lau for me, or, well, the family. Close enough. My cousin has only done this once before in culinary school, and is just repeating it from memory, which I think is pretty good. I also learned that it’s not that easy getting butter fish on Oahu. You would think that they would have butter fish at Whole Foods, but we ended up finding lots of fresh butter fish at Costco, which came out to about $13 / fish.
